We were out yesterday looking at cabinets. Or at least my wife was. I just wanted to get out of the house.
As we drove back and forth, I did some shooting with the D850 and my 80-400mm zoom, mostly at 400mm, but that was inappropriate to bring into the showroom. While she was speaking with their designer, I mostly sat reading and then wandered about to see if there was anything startlingly new in the floor and cabinet world. IMHO, very little worth mentioning has changed in a very long time.
1. Using my phone, a Pixel 4A, I shot this through the glass storefront. Long-time listeners may remember that I have an ongoing project concerning the American flag and its derivatives
2. This was shot with the D850 on the way home to show what sort of day it was. I wish this setup had better image stabilization.
Thanks for sharing Andrew. It would be difficult to tell that the first image was shot on a cellphone.
For the second, it may have been interesting shooting this on a cellphone with a long exposure app - lots of movement in the lights I suspect and patterns created by the camera movement.
#1, Our Kodak rep told us back in the day that their Instamatic cameras were optimized for pictures taken at a distance of 5-10 feet. I suspect this is still true for simple cameras like those found on cell phones.
#2, 400mm shot through a wet windshield at about 45mph. I wish my D850, which does so many things so well, had faster autofocus and image stabilization. Maybe Santa will bring me a Z8. Ho Ho Ho.

I understand what kind of day it was because that's pretty much what it looked like here in PA out our windows.
